A diverging lens corrected for colour.

A negative achromatic lens combines two elements made from glasses with different dispersion, with an overall negative focal length. It diverges light while correcting chromatic and spherical aberration. Typical uses are beam expanders and extending the focal length of an imaging system without adding colour fringing.
